Background & Challenges

Japan’s hospitality industry continues to face chronic labor shortages. Contributing factors include delayed technology adoption across the industry and the operational burden of managing multiple systems, which consume significant time and resources.

According to the IPA DX White Paper 2023, the DX adoption rate in the hospitality and food service sectors remains under 20%. Furthermore, 41.1% of respondents answered that they had “no plans to pursue DX in the future,” highlighting the industry’s structural lag in digital transformation.
