SQUEEZE Inc. (Head Office: Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido; CEO: Shinichi Tatebayashi) has begun accepting reservations for “SHIFT HOTEL Shibuya Hatagaya,” an urban hotel project jointly developed with REALGATE Inc. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yutaka Iwamoto).
The project combines REALGATE’s expertise in aging-building regeneration with SQUEEZE’s next-generation operation platform “suitebook,” forming the first model of a new operational approach ahead of the hotel’s opening in January 2026.
About SHIFT HOTEL Shibuya Hatagaya
Located in Hatagaya, Shibuya, the hotel has been reborn as a place where guests can feel the local culture and atmosphere. Inspired by the theme “SHIFT”—movement, transition, flexibility—the hotel offers spaces where guests can explore, relax, and enjoy “time that feels like their own.”
Guests will also receive an original Hatagaya Map introducing local shops and restaurants, allowing them to “live like a traveler” during their stay.

The hotel preserves the character of its 53-year-old building under the theme “materials that inherit time.” By layering hand-applied design elements onto wood, steel, and concrete textures, the space allows guests to enjoy the beauty of materials as they age.
The hotel offers a “live like a local” experience, connecting travel, work, and daily life in the Hatagaya neighborhood.

This project is positioned as a “conversion-type regeneration model,” repurposing an aging building into a hotel—a response to Japan’s growing social challenge of underutilized and aging real estate.
REALGATE has revitalized over 100 aging buildings mainly in central Tokyo, promoting community-building through mixed-use developments. Adding a hotel function connects daytime and nighttime activity, generating new flows of people and local economic circulation.
